TROY, N.Y. – Following a season in which it played in two post-season tournaments – advancing to the semifinals of both – the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women’s basketball team has added five newcomers to go along with 12 returners for the 2020-21 academic year, it has been announced. Though the start of the campaign is unknown, head coach John Greene and assistant coach Sarah Lombard have put together a squad with student-athletes from seven different states when it begins. Thirteen different majors are being studied.
Below is information about the team makeup as well as notes about the squad and individual student-athletes:

- Team GPA in spring 2020 was 3.63 (18 student-athletes) … Cumulative GPA was 3.32
- The Engineers annually assist with park clean-up projects in Troy.
- Leila Uribe (Canyon Country, CA / William S. Hart) was chosen as her high school’s Homecoming Queen, making her a third generation honoree. Her brother plays football at Carnegie Mellon.
- Lolo Reynolds (San Diego, CA / Rancho Bernardo) attended the Lockheed Martin Women in Engineering conference. She has also traveled abroad on a mission trip with her church. Her grandfather graduated from RPI with Ph.D., and her sister played basketball at Rensselaer. Another sister played basketball at Rochester.
- Haley Jette (Kings Park, NY / Kings Park) also plays on the Rensselaer soccer team.
- Tina Heer’s (Littleton, MA / Parker Charter) mother played basketball at Tufts.
- Sara Alrashed (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia / Brewster Academy) is a native of Saudi Arabia who went to high school in New Hampshire for the 12th grade. She held an internship with Action Sports Physical Therapy in 2018.
- Courtney Lewis (Port Jefferson, NY / Port Jefferson) held an internship with Ernst & Young. Her father played basketball at Union.
- Sydney Gordon (Pittsford, NY / Pittsford Mendon) volunteers with religious groups.
- Erin Doyle (Sinking Spring, PA / Wilson) had an internship at Penn State St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her father attended Rensselaer and played basketball, as did an uncle. Her mother played basketball at Russell Sage and her aunt dove at West Chester University.
- Ahnalese Pearson (Niskayuna, NY / Colonie Central) volunteers at the City Mission.
- Hannah McGrath (Manchester, NH / Phillips Academy Andover) has two uncles who graduated from Rensselaer. Her mother played soccer at Providence College.
- Heather Converse (Woodstock, CT / Woodstock Academy) was an intern at SPIROL International Corporation the past two summer. This year she spearheaded restructuring of the automation department’s network structure for improved project flow, document organization, and reduced project time/waste. Her brothers played basketball at WPI and Clark, respectively.
- Brielle Sharry’s (Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) grandfather played football and baseball at Fordham University and later played minor league baseball.
- Emily Vallee (Greenwich, NY / Schuylerville) also competes in track & field. Her brother is on Rensselaer’s baseball team and her father also played baseball for the Engineers.
